Catching up

We are SUBMERGED in summer. I am GLORIOUSLY jr. high student FREE. We celebrated Thad’s 8th birthday and our 16th anniversary last Friday. I have SUH-LEPT a lot. Right now is VBS. We recently got dining room furniture AND all of my blue and white dishes are now seeing the light of day AT ONCE for the first time in 16 years as I found a china cabinet that matches Granny’s as closely as is possible. Sadly, I cannot show you photos of any of that since we no longer have a digital camera. That–and a car–are next on the list of items to purchase. I would LOVE to have your suggestions regarding digital cameras–SLR or REALLY GREAT point and shoot. We are thinking of getting THIS vehicle. . .used not new. Any opinions/horror stories/glorious reviews would be welcomed as well. I’ve been doing research, but there’s nothing like hearing it from friends.

Thad got EIGHT (8) Lego sets for his birthday totalling a sum of 12 different vehicles and Lego people too numerous to mention. He had them ALL put together by 1:00 p.m. the day after his birthday. . .and his party wasn’t until 6:00 in the evening. Heather was there and smiling at ME (and also at her cousins and her uncle and her parents but mainly at ME). She is five months old and JUST NOW getting into 0-3 month clothes. She is about 11 pounds. . .TEENY. . .but she’s hitting all of her marks on development–starting to sit up for a little bit at a time. She’s just so LITTLE.

A trip to Galveston is next on the agenda, and as much as I’d like to stay in my house for the entire summer long, we owe it to the kids to go to the beach since they lived trying to build this house last summer. I leave you with some photos of the kids. . .and promises for a more significant post later after I ponder how best to attack the subject matter.

  1. Nikon D60, dude. It’s great for beginners, and the pros now use it as their lightweight camera, for when they’re off-duty, or so David Busch says. Costco has a great bundle and so does Amazon. And for point and shoots, my SIL takes fabulous pictures with her Canon Powershot. It’s small, but pretty potent.

Tell me what ya think.
